China Unicom To Buy Twice As Many WinMob Phones Over iPhones

Reports are filtering in that China Unicom will be buying twice as many Windows Mobile handsets for 2010 than iPhones. According to Zhang Zhijiang, GM of China Unicom’s technology division, 8% of their 3G handset procurements will be Windows Mobile handsets, and 4% will be iPhones. Of course, let’s not forget that there are many devices out there that use Windows Mobile, so it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see that there will be more Windows Mobile phones that the iPhone. China Unicom is also the exclusive carrier for the iPhone in China, so it will be interesting to see how well the iPhone fares in China via official channels.
