Firmware update silences optical drive on MacBook Pros

Apple has certainly done good with its latest EFI firmware update 1.8 which supposedly mutes the optical drive upon startup in MacBook Pros, while fixing other known issues that were left untouched when update 1.7 was released. Way to go, Apple, although it does show that computer users can be an extremely fussy bunch who can’t even stand a bit of noise from their device.
