No Google Purchase Of Yelp

For those of you who are worried that Google will be buying over the world piece by piece, you’ll probably be happy to hear that the latest news indicates that the Yelp deal is off. Word on the street is that Yelp actually walked away from a $550m offer from Google, which is certainly a lot of money to turn down. Folks are speculating that Yelp might have gotten a better offer elsewhere, or perhaps thought that it would be able to get a better offer elsewhere. If that’s true, the usual suspects would be the large companies such as Microsoft, Yahoo, Apple, and AOL. Of course, there’s no confirmation on this just yet, but it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on.
