We covered the Gecko Edubook from NorhTech half a year ago, where the most interesting aspect of it was the ability to run on AA batteries. This unit that arrived at Liliputing’s doorsteps comes with 512MB RAM alongside an 8GB SD memory card, a trio of USB 2.0 ports, Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, microphone and headphone jacks alongside an 8.9″ display at 1,024 x 600 resolution. If you don’t want to use NiMH AA batteries to run it, there is always the option of purchasing Lithium Polymer battery packs that provide more punch. No power bricks here to worry about, since the power cable will plug straight into the Gecko Edubook itself. This will probably be a success in emerging markets, but we don’t see it making any headway in mature and developed segments.
