Orange launches its App Shop

Orange just launched its app store called App Shop in France and the U.K, more European countries will follow soon. The new service will be available to more than one million devices and will serve 5000 products like applications, ringtones or wallpapers (funny that they call that APP store). The proportion of each category is unknown at this point, but I suspect that there are relatively few actual applications, and that most items are content files. It’s not clear what handset support the service today, but the Nokia 6700, Sony Ericsson W995 and the Sony Ericsson Yari U100i (France only) will be feature the store soon. More brands and model will follow in 2010.
