Samsung has started to mass produce 32Gb MLC NAND memory which supports an asynchronous DDR interface, having shipped out their inital batch to major OEMs. This NAND flash will see action in a variety of situations, including SSDs, SD memory cards and portable media players among others. Apparently, devices that have asynchronous DDR NAND within are able to achieve a much higher performance thanks to its 133Mb/s data transfer rate compared to a sluggish (relatively speaking) 40Mb/s from single data rate-based SLC NAND.
