Winter often results in more careful driving by most folks who give a hoot about their lives, but what other methods are there to make winter travel easier? How about self-heating roads? Those are currently being worked on by boffins at the University of Houston, Texas, where it might soon see the elimination of salting trucks or ploughs during heavy snowstorms. Apparently, electric heating elements can be incorporated into roads or within the structure of bridges, keeping those warm enough to prevent snow from residing. That ought to see lives saved if implemented nationwide.
