Volkswagen has decided to debut its Up! Lite concept car at the 2009 LA Auto Show, offering enough room to seat four people as it ambles about the city. Underneath the hood, you will find an efficient TDI engine, an electric motor and a 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox which work well to result in a small aerodynamic footprint (Cd value of 0.237), ekeing out an impressive 65 g/km of CO2 emissions. Many components within are made of carbon fiber, resulting in it weighing a mere 695kg. The Up! Lite will most likely never enter production, but you could see future Volkswagen vehicles incorporate technology within.
