AMD just unveiled its latest batch of processors that won’t go beyond the $100 price point by far, with the AMD Athlon II X2 255 3.1GHz processor retailing for a mere $74 in industrial quantities, whereas the AMD Athlon II X3 440 3Gz 90W chip retails for $84. As for the AMD Athlon II X4 635 2.9GHz, it will cost $119. As for the Phenom family, you will find two more additions – the 3.2GHz/80W AMD Phenom II X2 555 at $99 and the AMD Phenom II X4 910e 2.6GHz at $169. AMD has dubbed the Phenom II X2 555 as the Black Edition, perhaps making it sound as though there is more bite although it is a budget-conscious processor in reality.
