The United States Patent and Trademark Office has granted new patents to Apple, and Cupertino will be rejoicing in the fact that they now have a potential stranglehold on a proximity-sensing multitouch screen, which could very well be a patent for the tech event that could define 2010, or perhaps some other newfangled Apple creation in the far future. Among the 13 patents include an Automatic Detection of Channel Bandwidth, Color Management System, Apparatus and Method for Rotating the Display Orientation of a Captured image, a Video Conferencing System and Interface for Providing Modeless Timeline Based Selection of an Audio or Video File, where the most interesting of the lot has proved to be the Proximity Detector for Tablets.
