Canon has recently submitted a patent that might hint of a dual viewfinder system in future DSLRs. The technology patented uses a rather interesting viewfinder system, with a small backlit LCD (or OLED) inside the finder to project the previously captured images onto a mirror on the pentaprism, allowing you to see the picture you just took in the (traditionally optical) viewfinder. So instead of you taking a picture, and having to take your face away from the camera to check out the picture on the display, you can keep your face glued to the viewfinder, and see the picture you just took! If you’re into details, check out the patent filing.
