Dell slate prototype

[CES 2010] As we covered in our live website, Dell unveiled their concept tablet (or slate, depending on which camp you’re on) that does not have a confirmed release date yet. It looks as though there is built-in Wi-Fi connectivity, as you can send your desktop background over to a similar device, allowing the recipient to edit that background and send it back right at you. Sounds like fun, and being a full touchscreen device alongside functions that make it a portable media player, could this be just an iPod touch with a slightly larger display? Apparently, it will run on the Android operating system, but with no concrete release date, Dell might be just too late to the game if Apple takes their next iPod touch to a totally new level. Interesting times are definitely ahead of us, and we hope to see Dell offer decent competition in this arena. A lot of it will also hinge on how well the Android’s Marketplace does in terms of software offered. Dell has hopes to roll it out in varying screen sizes (and probably memory capacity), so keep your eyes peeled for future updates here.
