Folks who own a Dream or Magic will probably already know that there have been some problems with the devices recently, and as such, GPS had to be disabled on those phones. Fortunately HTC has come up with the necessary fixes for those phones, and the update is now available to the general public. The fix will solve the issue that the phones experienced with 911 calls. The good news is that Rogers will be crediting users with 1 month of data fees, which is better than nothing. An official statement from Rogers reads:
“A mandatory software update is now available for Rogers HTC Dream and Magic customers to ensure 911 calls can be completed on these devices. These customers need to go immediately to http://www.rogers.com/dreamsoftwareupdate or http://www.rogers.com/magicsoftwareupdate on a PC to download the update. Users of Windows 7 or Macintosh will need to call 1-888-Rogers1 for update instructions. Customers will need to backup any personal items before the update process.
