Greenpeace Monitors The Green At CES

With everybody getting on the eco-friendly bandwagon, it’s interesting to see how various companies have responded to the calls to “go green”. Greenpeace has been over at CES 2010, just like the rest of us, and has released its latest edition of the Guide to Greener Electronics, which showed that Apple, Sony Ericsson and Nokia all the leading the way for introducing products free of the worst hazardous substances, with HP closely behind. The bad news in this instance seems to be that Samsung is trailing behind industry leaders, as it isn’t following through on its promise to phase-out toxic chemicals in its products. Only the latest models of phones from Samsung are free of toxic substances, and it has set January 2011 as the deadline for eliminating them from new models of its notebooks, though there isn’t a definitive timeline for removing them from its TVs and household appliances.
