With this morning’s imminent Apple announcement, it makes us wonder why would anyone else bother to put up a fight against a potential iPod-class ebook reader. Guess the folks at China did not get the memo, as they are preparing the launch of the Newsmy 6101 which ain’t too shabby in terms of specifications which include a 6″ Vizplex e-ink display with 4 gray levels at 600 x 800 resolution, 512MB of internal storage, a 1000mAh battery and a SD memory card slot. Each purchase will come with a 2GB SD memory card to get you started, although you will need to fill it up with ebooks yourself in the veins of PDF and TXT formats. Word has it the Newsmy 6101 has been priced at $264 a pop.
