Sony has long endured the rumor that Sony installs a secret timer in all of its devices, where these “failsafes” cause their devices to fail after a specified time period. Rumors were rife from the 1980s onwards, as Sony devices just stopped working the moment their warranties expired. Guess this is one rumor that is much longer lived compared to the iSlate, as whispers of such a secret Sony timer still abound today. What do you think? We personally favor this as hogwash, as such a move would definitely kill the company if proof ever surfaces, and Sony is way too big to take such a risk.
