Emblaze Sues Microsoft And Apple For Patent Infringement

Nowadays it’s rare to see a day go by where some big company isn’t being sued for patent infringement or something along those lines. Now it seems that Emblaze, the folks behind the Else, which was on display at CES 2010, have served both Microsoft and Apple with a lawsuit, claiming that both companies infringe on its patent. Apparently the company isn’t happy with Microsoft’s Silverlight Smooth Streaming and Apple’s HTTP Live Streaming, as it owns a patent on Network Media Streaming, which dates back to 1999. Do you think that there is any merit in this, or is Emblaze trying to make a quick buck by taking on two of the giants in the tech industry? If you’ve invested in Emblaze shares, you’ll probably smile when you hear that the company’s shares have risen by 13.5 percent (at the time of writing).
