
Just like humans, netbooks too want to lose weight and a chassis size – in this case, we’re talking about a future version of the Ubuntu Netbook, also known as the Netbook Remix. Apparently, the updated version ought to shed some weight while featuring only relevant and appropriate, netbook-friendly applications to make it less bogged down. Strangely enough, OpenOffice has been removed without any viable replacement in sight – after all, OpenOffice is extremely suitable for netbooks, but perhaps they want us to run cloud computing services like Google Docs? Among the retained applications are Gwibber, Cheese Webcam Booth and SimpleScan.
