JVC’s latest Everio GZ-HM340 camcorder is one of the cheapest solutions from JVC’s stable which is capable of recording widescreen 1080i while retaining the functionality of a compact and shockproof flash memory in lieu of a hard drive. Storage solutions include 16GB of internal flash memory and an SDHC memory card slot to augment it further. Despite being highly affordable, this camcorder doesn’t skimp on features with the inclusion of similar advanced image stabilization technology found in higher end models. The Everio GZ-HM340 is also capable of zooming as far out as 20x. Expect the camcorder to ship from this month onwards, where it will retail for around $500 – this ought to throw a spanner in the works for standard definition camcorders that fall under a similar price point.
