Kyocera unveils smallest LTE base station in the world

Smallest isn’t the only superlative to be used in Kyocera’s latest Long Term Evolution (LTE) micro base station that will see action at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona next week. In fact, it has “lightest” and “most efficient” to keep it company, and we can’t wait to see it in action. Kyocera’s prototype LTE micro base station is special in terms of its compact, all-in-one design, where network operators are able to complement current networks by enhancing coverage or adding incremental capacity in high-use areas. It won’t weigh more than 12 kg, and boasts 8 watts of transmit power.
