MEN Micro’s latest development would be the 3U CompactPCI single-board computer (SBC), where it packs the punch of a low-power Intel Atom XL processor alongside an onboard FPGA for user-defined functions, making it the first SBC of its kind that boasts such capability. Also known as the F11S, it offers a new range of design flexibility that targets industrial, embedded mobile, railway and transportation applications. Capable of operating across an extended -40 degrees C to +85 degrees C (-40 degrees F to +185 degrees F) temperature range thanks to a redesigned heat sink, this is one tough cookie that boasts a COM interface, a D-Sub connector, a couple of USB 2.0 ports, VGA or UXGA graphics and a PS/2 interface. Available as conduction- or convection-cooled, the F11S sure ain’t cheap with prices starting from $1,443 upwards while running on Windows or Linux platforms. [Press Release]
