Netflix to stream in full HD with 5.1 audio

Netflix looks set to stream their range of movies and TV series in full HD resolution – that’s 1080p for the uninitiated, later this year in a move to boost its business. Apart from 1080p video streaming, audiences will also be able to enjoy 5.1 audio for an all round, enjoyable home-theater experience. It remains to be seen just what kinds of shows and series will get the full HD treatment though. On an interesting side note, since all of the three major game consoles of this generation – the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii supports Netflix, we’re pretty sure that the Wii version won’t be getting a full HD upgrade for obvious reasons – the console can’t handle the playback as well as the lack of an HDMI output.
