What’s the point of watching a good movie without popcorn? That’s the premise which the Popcorn Tweet plays on, relying on Lego’s Mindstorm NXT as well as Labview software. It can be triggered via a #popcorn tweet, where the machine’s motor is driven by a belt that turns an Archimedes’ screw, which will in turn move a kernel of unpopped corn from the hopper to the popper. This is much slower than the traditional method of using a microwave, but it sure as heck is more fun! Definitely one of the less practical methods to get your popcorn, but it works.
