Amazon Might Ditch Publishers That Don't Toe The Line

It seems that Amazon is dead serious about protecting its position in the eBook industry, and it’s willing to pull off some drastic maneuvers in order to do so. Word is going around that Apple is threatening to pull the digital plug, as it recently did, on publishers that refuse to agree to its terms. We’re talking about a three-year deal that doesn’t allow other distribution methods (such as iBooks) to get lower price points. Apparently Amazon might even ditch two major publishers if the deal doesn’t go through, though there wasn’t any mention of which two publishers. Considering that publishers seem to want to be able to price eBooks around $12.99-$14.99, Amazon’s desire to keep prices at $9.99 will certainly put them on collision course. Are you willing to pay a few dollars more for your eBooks, or do you think that they’re priced just right at $9.99?
