Apple Patents A Solar Backlight

Don’t you just hate it when you’re squinting to see your laptop’s display in the sun? Well, why waste all that energy? According to a patent filing from Apple, the fruity company has an idea to use all that wasted sunlight to illuminate the screen of your notebook, which should help you see better in the sunlight, and more importantly, it will help you save oodles of power, since your notebook won’t have to waste battery power to keep the backlight running. From the picture in the patent filing, it looks like your MacBook could go from being a sleek chic machine to a Frankenstein, but you have to admit that it’s an interesting idea. Let’s see if Apple actually decides to implement such tech into its products anytime soon.
