Those who love to follow James Bond and his ilk might want to check out the Automatic Telephone Recorder which is capable of recording immediately the moment one picks up the handset, with a computer doing the actual recording which is triggered by the microcontroller through a USB connection. Definitely much more intricate than just going out to the store and picking up an answering machine or a custom phone recorder, but at least it is fun while you conjure one yourself!
