Could Apple's Latest Patent Hint At Why Screen Protectors Were Removed From Its Online Store?

Could this possibly be the reason why Apple has recently removed screen protectors from its shelves? A patent has been dug up showing the idea of retardation films on current and future Apple products to combat the distortions and negative effects caused by sunlight or users with polarized sunglasses on. It might be possible that the benefits of these films might be affected with the use of screen protectors. What do you think? Could they be related issues?
