Word is going around that Facebook could be testing the usage of QR codes on its site. In case you aren’t familiar, QR codes are like a 2D bar code for your mobile phone, allowing your phone to easily scan the QR code and get the information. It seems that Facebook might use these QR codes for profile and status links, which would probably come in handy if you fiddle with Facebook a lot on your mobile phone (don’t we all?) Facebook hasn’t officially confirmed or denied this feature just yet, so it certainly seems like there could be a possibility of seeing this feature sometime in the future. If it were to be implemented, it’ll be interesting to see how it will be used. An example would be businesses could use it to point customers to Facebook pages by embedding the QR codes in TVs and print ads.
