Microsoft has new webcams out

Microsoft isn’t shying away from the webcam industry with a trio of new models that will propel Microsoft into the High Definition era. With the HD-5000 and HD-5001 targeting desktops while the HD-6000 heads for notebooks, all three are able to capture an actual 720p widescreen (1,280 x 720 resolution) image, where the final product is highly enhanced with a new color correction engine known as TrueColor. This is made possible thanks to a mix of hardware and software which will go about adjusting color tones, exposure and various factors in order to represent the output in less-than-ideal conditions properly. Both the HD-5000 and HD-5001 will come with an adjustable base as well as true autofocus, retailing for $50 each. As for the HD-6000, this model is notebook-friendly with a specialized clip and a 360-degree mount, arriving later this May for $10 more. [Press Release]
