Guess when their iPhones fail on the battlefield, troops can still arrive at a designated point thanks to a location tracker that is based on microchip motion sensor technology courtesy of Tesella. Tessella is working with the European Space Agency on similar orientation software, where their sensors are lightweight in nature and can be by a soldier without bogging him/her down. A soldier’s position is detected thanks to a trio of microchip accelerometers and gyroscopes that are contained within. This is very possible on paper, but it’s only an approximation that will induce error that add up overtime. The question of usefulness depends on how much research is put into it finally.
