With so many devices these days relying on a whole lot of battery power, it is no surprise to see battery technology advancement high on the agenda of many companies. After all, you’d hate to run out of juice just before you finish that important phone call, right? Here’s a new method that could potentially change the way we look at batteries – minuscule tubes coated with a chemical fuel which functions as a power source with 100 times more electrical power by weight than conventional batteries. Each time these nano-scale “fuses” burn, they will drive an electrical current along their length at staggering speeds, resulting in a raft of energy applications. While it will take a fair bit of time before such technology hits the mainstream, if ever, it is still encouraging to know that people are looking into it as an alternative source of energy.
