Penguin iPad books checked out

Penguin Group CEO John Makinson let the cat out of the bag today concerning forthcoming titles from them that will grace the iPad, and here’s what he has to say about it.

“We will be embedding audio, video and streaming in to everything we do. The .epub format, which is the standard for ebooks at the present, is designed to support traditional narrative text, but not this cool stuff that we’re now talking about.”

Seems that these books will more or less resemble applications instead of traditional e-books, bringing an extremely interactive learning experience to the masses. Hopefully the pricing will be friendly to consumers if it were to take off in a big way.
