It seems that all future XO laptops that use 3qi displays will rely on Pixel Qi technology, which is essentially a low power LCD display that can alternate between a full color saturation mode and a high contrast mode that more or less looks almost black and white, relying on around 20% the power of the full color mode. When switched to the high contrast mode, the display is also easily readable outdoors under direct sunlight. We don’t have any idea on when the first commercially available laptops or tablets with 3qi displays will be available, but stay tuned for further developments!
