Sprint's HTC EVO 4G Can't Handle Data And Voice Simultaneously

If you were wondering if Sprint’s freshly-announced HTV EVO 4G would be able to break any of the traditional rules, it seems that the age-old “CDMA can’t handle voice and data at the same time” restriction is still in place. HTC has been quoted confirming that if you’re using 4G for data, you won’t be able to use CDMA for voice, which is a bummer in today’s multitasking environment. The ray of hope does come in the form that apparently this issue isn’t due to strict hardware limitations, so maybe if Sprint were to sprinkle some magic dust and perform some upgrades in the future, there might be a solution to this. Is the ability to be able to use your phone’s data connection while you’re chatting on the phone important to you?

Update: In it’s official press release, Sprint has confirmed that the HTC EVO 4G will be able to support simultaneous voice and data connections, and we’re certainly glad to hear that.
