The Panel, Portable 13 inch LED Monitor by MEDL
The Panel, Portable 13 inch LED Monitor by MEDL

[DEMO Spring 2010] MEDL Technology has announced a prototype called “The Panel”, touted to be the world’s first portable 13″ LED monitor. The 2.2 lbs device is targeted to the telecommuters and the “road warriors” who want to add more screen real estate to enhance their productivity. Features include USB connectivity, WXGA resolution (1280 x 800), up to 5 hours battery life, read the complete features after the jump. I am a conference gypsy, a subset of the road warrior category, and although I was a bit skeptical at first, I have to admit that the idea of doubling the screen surface for an additional 2.2lbs is not a bad one. This would be great to leave at the hotel room or in an office, for example. That said, I always crave for more screen real estate when I am live blogging with my 13″ MacBook Pro (there is ample working space at DEMO)… The additional weight can be a concern for the frequent traveler, but I’m ready to at least try. If this catches on, I wonder how MEDL can compere with companies like Samsung, if they decide to enter that space. The price is currently unknown and if you are reading this from DEMO, MEDL is looking for partners…
