Verizon Wireless V Cast Apps finally rolls out

As mentioned earlier, Verizon Wireless has kicked off its V Cast Apps, which is essentially their version of an online application store which will target selected smartphones, with a handful of BlackBerrys from RIM being the main beneficiaries in the beginning. The BlackBerry Storm comes first, followed by other BlackBerries in due time. Guess you will find RIM enabling V Cast Apps to be preloaded on the homescreen instead of its very own App World store, just like how Nokia has come to an agreement with AT&T, although in their case, both Ovi Store and AT&T’s own planned shopfront will exist happily together on the main display. Will this kick off well? One can only speculate, and Verizon is generous enough to share 70% of revenues with developers and offer developers the lure of access to its carrier billing platform in order for direct billing to the user.
