It seems that the pre-release beta of iPhone OS 4 holds a new application which could very well see action in automobiles by controlling the device. Apparently, the new “iPod out” feature is included in iPhone OS 4, and can be used with the iPod Accessory Protocol in automobiles. Among the strings in the application include “IAPSSimpleRemoteCarButtonNotification” and “IAPSSimpleRemoteCarButtonTypeKey.” We could very well see this in an Apple-branded car kit, but we definitely can’t rule out third party manufacturers as well.
