The iPhone is a really revolutionary phone, and thanks to the iPhone OS 3.0, the phone supports Internet tethering, which allows you to use your iPhone as a wireless modem, allowing your laptop to access the Internet via the phone. That being said, AT&T has yet to enable the feature for US customers, and according to a company spokesperson they’re still evaluating the situation, worrying about the potential traffic increase, which could hamper AT&T’s already busy network. According to the representative:
iPhone tethering has the potential to exponentially increase traffic, and we need to ensure that we’re able to deliver excellent performance for the feature – over and above the increases in data traffic we’re already seeing – before we will offer the feature.
Are you hoping that AT&T will enable the feature as soon as possible, or do you think that you’ll never use it?
