Boffins at UCLA’s Center for Advanced Surgical and Interventional Technology (CASIT) have come up with a vest that contains accelerometers located across the shoulders and pneumatic balloon actuators which allows those who have lost their sense of balance due to injury or disease to regain their walking ability. The accelerometers which are located on the shoulders will be able to detect one’s movements, and inflate other silicone balloons to help maintain the wearer’s balance. Can’t wait to see something like this hit the market at an affordable price!
