It was previously speculated that Google had dropped the Nexus One from Verizon’s lineup and now the search engine giant has confirmed this. As expected, the lack of the Nexus One on Verizon Wireless is due to the release of the Droid Incredible, which is considered the equivalent to the Nexus One and in some ways better. According to a statement from Google, this reflects the amazing innovation in the Android platform. Another benefit that the Droid Incredible has over the Nexus One is that it is sold in retail stores, along with a contract pricing of $200, instead of having to buy the Nexus One online only. It remains to be seen if Google’s online-only marketing strategy will be considered a failure, as it doesn’t seem to have helped sales of the Nexus One very much, if at all.
