HTC’s hotly anticipated HTC Desire may not have reached your hands just yet, but it, along with the HTC Legend, has already been rooted by a user from the Modaco forums. The user is currently going through the finer details before he makes the trick public. Just in case you aren’t familiar with it, rooting your Android phone gives you full access to the file system, allowing you to modify the phone’s firmware to whatever you want, similar to jailbreaking an iPhone.

This will allow the user to perform administrative tasks such as writing to locations normally restricted by the system which in turn will allow for deeper customization.
