Word on the street is that Intel is gearing up for a significant update to its ultra-low voltage mobile chips, with a 1.46GHz Core i7 (68UM) lined up to be released in the fall. The chip is said to have the same 18W thermal peak power, but could reach up to 2.53GHz when running in Turbo Boost mode. As with other Core i7 processors, this chip will also offer Hyperthreading, performing like a four-core chip with optimized programs. Pricing wasn’t mentioned, but hopefully it won’t break the bank.
