While it’s not officially confirmed yet, word is going around that Intel’s Core i7 970 six-core chip will be shipping in the next few weeks. This chip is clocked at 3.2GHz and should be priced around €799 ($1073). Aside from that, Intel has launched the Core i5 680 chip for almost €300 ($400), which might seem a tad pricey for a dual-core chip. Finally, there is also the 2.8GHz Pentium E5500 and the 3.2GHz E6700. If you’re shopping around for a new processor to build a rig, it’d probably be worth your time to check these out, depending on your budget constraints, of course.
