No Push Notifications On Microsoft Kin

Folks who were thinking of picking up Microsoft’s freshly-baked Kin devices will want to take note if you’re addicted to social networking. While the device won’t have any issues connecting you to services such as Twitter, Facebook and MySpace etc, Microsoft has confirmed that users will be getting automatic updates every 15 minutes only, so if you’re expecting a message from one of your buddies from Facebook, don’t expect it to be pushed to you. The reason given by Microsoft is that they’re trying to lower the power consumption of these devices, and also cites immature social network APIs. Whether you’re going to buy that reason or not is entirely up to you, but it doesn’t change the fact that a 15-minute delay might be irritating to folks who are used to notifications being instant.
