The STI Group offers a world’s first – packaging that comes equipped with solar-powered OLED. This new form of packaging comes in the form of a limited edition slipcase which will change the book which it holds into something special – you get a solar cell-powered OLED that illuminates a portion of the slipcase without adding to your monthly power bill. Of course, it remains to be seen just how many hours of sunlight does it need to achieve a full charge, and we do wonder what other forms of devices/items that such packaging would favor. Perhaps kids’ toys that feature those fancy buttons which when pressed, will emit blinking lights and sound? At least the manufacturer won’t need to throw in batteries that add to the weight and bulk.
