T-Mobile Garminfone Goes Official

T-Mobile has officially announced that it will be offering the Garmin-Asus Garminfone, touted as the first Android-powered smartphone to be fully integrated with Garmin’s navigation experience. If you think it looks familiar, it could be because this phone looks exactly like the Nuvifone A50. It’ll be launched later this spring, and specifications of it will include:

microSD card expansion up to 32GB
Powered by Google’s Android OS (unknown version)

Garmin: Garmin Ltd. was incorporated in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. It was founded by Gary Burrell and Min Kao in 1989, hence the company name Garmin. Garmin specializes in developing consumer, aviation, and marine technologies that rely on Global Positioning System or GPS for navigational assistance. Burrell and Kao, both electrical engineers, first named the company ProNav, but opted to change it to Garmin in 1991 when another competitor, who had a product called NavPro, sued the company for trademark infringement.
