Android-powered $99 Cherrypal Asia Netbook

You might have heard of the $99 netbook from Cherrypal before, and now the company has come up with its latest sub-$100 netbook, the Cherrypal Asia. The main difference between the Cherrypal Asia and its predecessor, the Cherrypal Africa, is the use of Google’s Android OS instead of Linux. It’s also worth noting that the company has announced that the Cherrypal Africa Linux edition has reached its end-of-life and pending orders will automatically be upgraded to the Asia Android edition. Specifications of the Cherrypal Asia include:

  • Android 1.6
  • 7-inch 800 x 480 pixel display
  • VIA ARM9 533MHz processor
  • 256MB RAM
  • 3x USB 2.0 ports
  • 2GB local storage

You might also want to take note that there is a 10.1-inch version of the netbook that packs a 1.3-megapixel webcam as well, priced at $148.
