If you were wondering how Apple’s iPad did in its launch last weekend, an estimate by a Piper Jaffray analyst puts the figure at 300,000 iPad 3G units sold that last weekend. This would include both 52 days of pre-orders and walk-in sales. Of the 50 Apple stores that were called on Sunday, it seems that all but one had completely run out of stock for the iPad 3G. If the figures are accurate, then Apple’s iPad (3G and Wi-Fi combined) would become the quickest-selling tablet and eBook reader to date. Amazon is estimated to have sold about 3 million Kindles to date, but it took about 2-years to hit such a figure, while Apple may exceed that in just 6-months.
