BlackBerry Cobalt tablet decides to give Android a miss

It seems that the mysterious BlackBerry Cobalt tablet was originally planned to function with Android as its operating system of choice, but RIM at the last minute had a change of heart instead, deciding to rely on their own operating system which obviously delayed the launch of the device since they will need to work on adapting the software for such a new form factor. We have word that Quanta will be the manufacturing partner for the entire device that will run on Marvell’s Armada processor. Do you think that this was a wise choice by RIM’s part, or should they have relied on the Android OS to give the tablet a fighting chance considering the growing popularity of Android in the market?
