Compellent’s hardware road map has some interesting things in store for the future – we’re talking about 2.5″ hard drives which will not only be faster, but boasts larger capacities as well. It seems that a 900GB 2.5″ hard drive spinning at 10,000rpm is ready to knock on our doors in the relatively near future, while a 15K rpm 2.5″ drive with 300GB capacity is also on the way – should that happen, it could very well be the fastest small form factor disk drive available at the market. Could this prolong the shelf life of hard drives by some time?
